35th Fajr festival invites 350 guests from 66 countries

The 35th Fajr International Film Festival invites more than 350 guests from 66 countries.

The 35th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has invited more than 350 guests from 66 countries to Tehran.

Alireza Shojanouri, the festival spokesperson, said the festival invited guests from 31 Asian, 23 European, and 6 African countries.

The event will also host at least 5 special guests from the American continent and Australia as well as celebrity guests from 24 Muslim nations.

The guests come in different groups, mainly A-list directors, screenwriters, actors, special effects gurus, producers, festival managers, film buyers, and film sellers, Shojanouri told the reporters.

Filmmakers under the age of 27 will also participate in the event in a section titled Young movie talents.

A half of the young talents, who will take part in weeklong film workshops titled “Darol Fonoun”, are from Iran and the other half are from regional and Asian countries.

The spokesperson concluded that the festival’s International Club, developing rapidly, has more than 15,000 registered members so far. The members can book tickets online and at discount prices, or make selections in advance to take part in special screening programs.

Established in 1982, Fajr International Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th International Fajr Film Festival is scheduled to take place in the country’s capital of Tehran from April 21 through 28, 2017.
